April 6th, 2007 by coremaniac

The T.A.Pai Management Institute, Manipal announced that the Campus Placement for the Batch of 2007 was held on the 20th December 2006. Amidst hectic schedules and students shuttling between interviews with different organizations on campus, almost all the students were “placed” within a few hours of commencement of the process. TAPMI adopted a dual offer system with an end of the day acceptance to allow the students choice in the organization they preferred.

The “boom” in the country’s economy was reflected in the manner and speed with which companies recruited the TAPMI students. A total of 42 companies participated in the campus placement process, and made a total of 184 offers to 127 students. Students exercised their choice and accepted offers in 38 companies. 9 students had received pre-placement offers for their outstanding performance during their summer internship, 2 of them chose to accept the offers. 1 student opted out the placement process and 1 students are yet to be placed.

The average salary offered this year was Rs. 6.66 lakhs, an increase of 16% over the previous year. The highest salary was Rs. 9.25 lakhs (Rs.7.75 lakhs in Placement 2006).

Among the largest recruiters on campus were Cognizant (19), Infosys (16), IBM (10), Irevna (7), Citigroup (6), HSBC Bank (5), and VSNL (5). Among the industry sectors, IT, Consulting and Financial Services (including Banking) were the major recruiters.

Some of the companies that visited the TAPMI campus for the first time included IBM, HSBC Bank, VSNL, I-flex, Covansys, Deloitte, Hewlett Packard, JP Morgan Chase, Indian Oil, Idea Cellular, Perfetti Van Melle, United Breweries and Patni Computer Systems.

With this year’s placement achievement, TAPMI feels that it has now set the stage for its future strategic growth plans that will also see a most modern new campus in Manipal.
