SIBM PLACEMENTS

Pune, January 3: The Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) created a record of sorts when on Day One the institute achieved 100 per cent placements in six hours. SIBM director Arun Mudbidri said 207 offers were made to 143 students with an average salary of Rs 8.7 lakh per annum per student.

“This means, there were about 1.45 offers per student. In fact, last year 131 students got placed in eight hours. So, this year is a notable achievement,” he said.

The recruiters consisted of names from every sector right from FMCG, banking and financial services, consulting, IT and ITES, manufacturing and automobile to consumer durables, retail, media and advertising amongst others.

“The highest international offer of $85,000 was made by Olam International. There were also new international recruiters like Sony Gulf and Kaybee Group,” Mudbidri said. The highest domestic offer for freshers stood at Rs 10.2 lakh per annum by JP Morgan Chase.

The recruitment process provided ample choice for the freshers too, with 63 companies making 148 offers, leading to an average of 1.5 offers per student.

The placements also saw a large number of new recruiters like Morgan Stanley Advantage Services, HSBC Bank, Citifinancial, United Spirits, Goodyear, Reliance Industries (Retail), Bharti Airtel, Television Eighteen India Ltd and Adlabs Films Ltd among others.

As for the lateral offers, there were 16 companies that made 43 offers with the number of offers per student standing at 1.65. The highest offer stood at Rs 10.5 lakh per annum by Dell International. IT & ITES sector made the highest number of offers with the largest recruiter in terms of offers made being Wipro (eight offers) closely followed by Covansys (six offers) and HP (five offers).
