Generally each institute has a good mix of students from all kinds of fields ranging from Engineering , Science, Maths, Commerce, Arts, Mass Media, Medical etc. It generally depends upon institute to institute how they make up their batch profile. Given below is the general split of students in these institutes
BASED ON EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND :
Engineering : 60 - 70 %
Commerce + BBA + BMS : 20 - 25 %
Science : 5 - 10 %
Arts :5 - 7 %
Others : 2 - 3 %
Institutes like IITs and NITIE will have a very different profile than this, as it requires candidates to be engineering graduate or a master degree holder in certain subjects.
BASED ON WORK EXPERIENCE :
No Experience :45 - 55 %
O to 1 year Work Experience : 15 - 20%
1 to 2 years work Experience : 15 - 20%
2 to 3 year work experience : 10 %
more than 3 year or work experience : 5 %
Certain institutes like SP Jain Mumbai give higher preference to work - experience people
BASED ON AGE :
Less than 22 : 20 - 25 %
22 or 23 : 30 - 40%
23 or 24 : 20 - 30 %
25 or more : 8 - 12%
