Elegibility Criteria

This article is to make you well versed with eligibility factors of different colleges in the country. Each college has its own entry requirements, where some want 50% in Bachelor’s the other may require 60% and aboe in Bachelors . Below are the elegibility criteria for IIMs and IITs

CAT for IIMS

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. Candidates appearing for the final bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification examination can also apply.  For CAT 2006 ,  only those with 50 % and above in qualifying exam are eligible, prior to CAT 2006 there was no requirement of minimum marks in the qualifying exam.


IITs

The candidates having the following qualifications are eligible to apply for admission to the MBA programme:

1.      Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/ B.Sc. Agriculture Engineering (minimum 4 years after 10+2)

2.      Master’s degree in any branch of Physical/Chemical/Mathematical Sciences like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science, Agriculture or Master’s Degree in Commerce/ Economics.

Minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent in the above mentioned degree programmes essential for admission.

In the case of part-time students a minimum experience of two years will be required in addition to the above requirements.

The candidates having the following qualifications are eligible to apply for admission to the MBA programme:

1.      Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/ B.Sc. Agriculture Engineering (minimum 4 years after 10+2)

2.      Master’s degree in any branch of Physical/Chemical/Mathematical Sciences like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science, Agriculture or Master’s Degree in Commerce/ Economics.
