Academics is one of the parameters for judging an individuals application but it is not the only parameter which is used for judging an application. Academic Eligibilty for institutes are different. Some institutes ask for 50% minimum and others ask for 60% minimum.

Well we cannot say that MBA is mandatory but yes it is an important degree and has a lot of value. The choice is with an individual, if he or she wants to remain in the technology sector then they need not persue MBA but enhance their technical skills with further education in technology sector.
